Competition Rules

1. Eligibility

• Must be at least 13 years old (18 for cash prize competitions)
• Must have a valid BandSim account in good standing
• Must comply with all local laws regarding competitions and prizes
• Employees of FastCloud Labs and immediate family members are not eligible
• One entry per person per competition unless otherwise specified
• Must be a legal resident of an eligible country (void where prohibited)

2. Competition Tiers and Prizes

Additional prizes may include streaming royalties, featured placement, and special recognition.

3. How to Enter

Token Entry Method

1. Select an active competition from the Competition Hub
2. Review the brief requirements and prize details
3. Pay entry fee (typically 10-20 tokens)
4. Create and submit your music using BandSim's AI tools
5. Submit before the deadline

Alternative Method of Entry (AMOE)

No purchase necessary. To enter without using tokens:

1. Send an email to info@bandsim.com with subject "AMOE Entry"
2. Include your username, competition ID, and a 200-word essay on music creativity
3. Receive one free entry code within 48 hours
4. Use the code to submit your competition entry

AMOE entries have equal chance of winning as paid entries.

4. Judging Criteria

Evaluation Process

Winners are determined through a two-phase process:

Judging is based entirely on skill and creativity, not chance or random selection.

5. Prize Distribution

Payment Timeline

• Winners announced within 48 hours of competition close
• Prize payment initiated within 7 business days
• Payment via PayPal, bank transfer, or platform credit
• Winners must provide necessary tax documentation (W-9 for US residents)

Music Distribution

• Winning songs may be distributed to Spotify, Amazon Music, and other platforms
• Winners receive 50% of streaming royalties
• Distribution occurs within 30 days of competition end
• Winners retain underlying copyright to their compositions

Tax Responsibilities

Winners are responsible for all taxes on prizes. US residents winning over $600 in a calendar year will receive a 1099 form. International winners must comply with their local tax laws.

6. Rights and Licenses

Your Rights

• You retain copyright to your original musical compositions
• You may use your entries in your portfolio
• You receive attribution for winning entries

Rights Granted to BandSim

• Non-exclusive license to use entries for competition promotion
• For winners: distribution rights to streaming platforms
• Right to feature entries in marketing materials
• Brief sponsors receive commercial use rights to winning entries

7. Prohibited Conduct

The following will result in disqualification:

• Submitting copyrighted material you don't own
• Using multiple accounts to enter
• Vote manipulation or brigading
• Harassment of other participants
• Submitting inappropriate or offensive content
• Violating the competition brief requirements
• Using unauthorized third-party tools or services

8. Disclaimers and Limitations

• BandSim reserves the right to cancel or modify competitions
• We are not responsible for technical issues preventing entry
• Void where prohibited by law
• We may substitute prizes of equal or greater value
• Decisions of judges are final and binding
• We may disqualify entries that violate these rules or Terms of Service

9. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes regarding competitions will be resolved according to the dispute resolution provisions in our Terms of Service. For competition-specific issues, contact info@bandsim.com within 7 days of the issue arising.
